A new toy...

Today I received something I've always wanted...

I bought it on ebay, it's been refurbirshed but the lock doesn't work, which kept the cost down...

It came with the pen tray and the ink well, but I already had a dip pen.

There's plenty of room to store stationery under the writing boards, and I couldn't wait to play...

My first left-handed writing with a dip pen... As I say, 'It's just beautiful! Will I ever want to stop?'

Such a happy, happy girl!

  1. Wow! Congrats Claire, it's so precious! You deserve it! And the pen is gorgeous too, I've never written with a dip pen, should be a great experience. Have fun!

    1. I know - I am a very lucky girl!! I've left a comment on your quill quest post :)
Are you on Facebook at all - to PM me? I'd love to send you a letter using my writing slope... Or you could email me your postal address using the Contact Form here - I think we are birds of a feather, indeed :D x

    2. I'm sure you and Marcheline are birds of a feather. She is a very special friend of mine and the first contact she had with me was a beautifully written letter (and a gift of chocolate cherries!) The cherries have been eaten long since but the letter is laminated and is stuck on my study wall.

  4. How lovely, Claire, I've always wanted one, I've seen loads on antique programs, and often thought what an acquisition it would be. Enjoy yourself. x

  5. I have my grandmother's which is not in such good condition as yours but is still very precious to me. For years I have had 'learn calligraphy' on my to-do list. I hope I manage it eventually.
I have a load of pen nibs. I'll put some in the post to you next week. (I think I even have a 'left-handed' nib if I can find it.)

    1. How lovely to have your grandmother's writing slope! Is it worth refurbishing? And thank you, some extra nibs would be most welcome, especially left-handed! :)
