I bought it on ebay, it's been refurbirshed but the lock doesn't work, which kept the cost down...
There's plenty of room to store stationery under the writing boards, and I couldn't wait to play...
My first left-handed writing with a dip pen... As I say, 'It's just beautiful! Will I ever want to stop?'
Such a happy, happy girl!
Wow! Congrats Claire, it's so precious! You deserve it! And the pen is gorgeous too, I've never written with a dip pen, should be a great experience. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite addictive, Elizabeth! I now need to buy blotting paper - and spare nibs :)
DeleteSo enticing - just made to have a precious journal kept in it. Beautiful acquisition, Claire!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is, Roz! I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever owned...
DeleteFABULOUS. There is no other word. Except those. And those.
ReplyDeleteI know - I am a very lucky girl!! I've left a comment on your quill quest post :)
DeleteAre you on Facebook at all - to PM me? I'd love to send you a letter using my writing slope... Or you could email me your postal address using the Contact Form here - I think we are birds of a feather, indeed :D x
I'm sure you and Marcheline are birds of a feather. She is a very special friend of mine and the first contact she had with me was a beautifully written letter (and a gift of chocolate cherries!) The cherries have been eaten long since but the letter is laminated and is stuck on my study wall.
DeleteWhooeee - people have been saying nice things about me behind my back! What a nice surprise! 8-)
DeleteHow lovely, Claire, I've always wanted one, I've seen loads on antique programs, and often thought what an acquisition it would be. Enjoy yourself. x
ReplyDeleteI have my grandmother's which is not in such good condition as yours but is still very precious to me. For years I have had 'learn calligraphy' on my to-do list. I hope I manage it eventually.
ReplyDeleteI have a load of pen nibs. I'll put some in the post to you next week. (I think I even have a 'left-handed' nib if I can find it.)
How lovely to have your grandmother's writing slope! Is it worth refurbishing? And thank you, some extra nibs would be most welcome, especially left-handed! :)
DeleteSo pleased it has gone to a good home enjoy xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has!! Don't think I've ever owned such a beautiful object before - you can be sure I'll treasure it :) xx
